Mid-drill pause where athletes reflect on what went well, then choose a new goal to focus on for the rest.

Reflect and Reset Challenge

Materials Needed

No materials needed.

Instructions

  1. Explain the drill (for example: a simple pass and defense drill) and start the drill.
  2. After a few minutes, pause the drill.
  3. Ask the group these reflection questions: What went well? What was difficult? (quick verbal sharing).
  4. Provide the players with three goals. For example:
    • Offense: 1. more accurate passing, 2. making feint movements, 3. fast passing.
    • Defense: 1. communicating out loud, 2. hands high/stick on the ground, 3. small steps.
  5. Let them decide which option they choose based on their reflection earlier. They can show their choice with their fingers (one, two, or three fingers).
  6. Continue with the drill.
